Welcome to Bangor Trident Base

 

Bangor Trident Base is situated on the Kitsap Peninsula in Washington State, approximately 20 minutes north of Naval Base Kitsap Bremerton. The charming city of Poulsbo is near the north of the base, and the urban amenities of Silverdale and Bremerton are near the south. Unlimited outdoor recreational opportunities are right in Bangor Trident Base’s backyard. Mt. Rainier and the Olympic National Park and Forest are accessible within a two-hour drive, providing ample opportunity for hiking, climbing, and camping. Boating, fishing, and any other number of watersports are also within easy reach from Bangor Trident Base. 

 

Originally known as Naval Submarine Base Bangor, the base was established in 1942, serving as a shipping facility for ammunition until the 1970s, when it was converted into a submarine base. By 2004, Naval Submarine Base Bangor was combined with Naval Station Bremerton to create Naval Base Kitsap. Naval Base Kitsap is one of the three largest naval bases in the United States and is a conglomerate of military installations that includes Bangor Trident Base.

Many residents of the Kitsap Peninsula take advantage of the area’s crystalline waters and gorgeous mountain views by powerboating and sailing. Nearby Poulsbo and Bremerton have excellent private yacht clubs to make boating much more enjoyable. Exceptional hiking, climbing, and skiing are available at any number of the national and state parks throughout the Kitsap and Olympic Peninsulas and across the Puget Sound in the Cascade Mountains.

Caffe Cocina Coffee Roasting excels at providing distinct and flavorful coffee by carefully sourcing direct and fair trade organic coffee and by locally roasting. Caffe Cocina also maintains partnerships with local farms to provide a quality farm-to-table menu for their guests.

 

The Oak Table Cafe chefs start at dawn daily, preparing various batters from original recipes. The Oak Table uses only the freshest ingredients available, going so far as to render their own butter to ensure the finest quality. Neighboring Poulsbo offers an exciting calendar of opportunities for year-round events. Viking Fest has been a Poulsbo tradition since 1969. Viking Fest pays homage to Norway's May 17th Constitution Day, with a colorful parade through the streets of Poulsbo headlining the event. Poulsbo celebrates Julefest every December. The celebration includes Christmas music around a tree on the waterfront and a Christmas Bazaar.


The Kitsap County Fair happens annually on the last weekend in August before Labor Day. The fair features traditional entertainment, such as carnival rides, live music, agricultural exhibits, and a rodeo. The U.S. Naval Undersea Museum is a fantastic institution dedicated to curating educational exhibits that explore the Navy’s undersea operations. The museum’s exhibitions showcase the military’s underwater technology, combat, and research.
