SEATTLE

A metropolis immersed in culture and surrounded by nature

Welcome to Seattle

Surrounded by unparalleled natural beauty, Seattle is a dynamic, urban cultural hub. The city comprises many unique neighborhoods, all offering easy access to Seattle’s cosmopolitan amenities. Seattle lies between the salt waters of Puget Sound and the fresh waters of Lake Washington. Two majestic mountain ranges dominate the city’s skyline, the Olympics to the west and the Cascades to the east. Built on hills and surrounded by water, Seattle provides residents with proximity to unsurpassed water sports, hiking, climbing, and skiing.

Seattle’s rich history is fully displayed in all aspects of the vibrant city, from its name, “Seattle,” to its museums and cultural events. In 1852, a small group of settlers recognized the land that would become Seattle for its natural resources. As a result, a village was established in what would become present-day Seattle’s Pioneer Square neighborhood. This original settlement was named Seattle to pay tribute to the widely respected Duwamish tribal leader, Chief Si’ahl.

Today, Seattle is a lively city experiencing rapid growth due to its geographic, economic, and cultural advantages. Bustling cosmopolitan energy meshes with serene nature and outdoor recreation. This surprising blend of tranquility and dynamism provides residents with a one-of-a-kind urban environment to call home.

What to Love

  • World-class museums, live performances, and sporting events
  • Convenient access to national parks and forests
  • Extensive city parks and green spaces
  • Burgeoning food scene
  • Iconic and charming neighborhoods
  • An advantageous location for fresh and saltwater recreation

Local Lifestyle

Seattle is home to many notable companies across various industries, making it a hub for business and commerce. Residents of Seattle work hard and play even harder. As a result, the city offers an array of seemingly endless entertainment. Shopping in Seattle is a treat at local upscale boutiques and luxury brand-name stores. Attending any number of professional sporting events can be an exciting weekend highlight. To partake in regional, national, and global culture, visit any of Seattle’s museums, theaters, and concert halls.

The great outdoors is only a brisk walk or a short drive away. Seattle has a robust system of city parks, gardens, and beaches and is home to many exceptional private yacht clubs and marinas. Washington boasts several national parks and forests accessible from Seattle, including Mt. Rainier National Park. Scenic hiking trails, climbing routes, and ski runs are a quick trip from Seattle.

Dining, Shopping & Entertainment

Seattle is home to hundreds of unique craft coffee shops and cafés. However, Fulcrum Café stands apart from the crowd. Fulcrum is one of Seattle’s most respected roasters, with fifth-generation Costa Rican coffee farmer Blas Aflaro at its helm.

Seattle’s culinary scene exists a cut above, with Seattle chefs taking new and daring approaches to their cuisine. SAI Sushi and Sake provide diners with an utterly personalized evening of masterful Omakase. Chef Akiyoshi Saito has created a truly exclusive dining experience. A party of two or three are served in the restaurant by reservation only, presenting an opportunity to fully immerse in a curated experience with Chef Saito as your guide.

Aerlume Seattle curates warmth and refinement in its space, as well as its culinary offerings. Upon entering the restaurant, your line of sight opens up to a sweeping view of Puget Sound, creating a dramatic backdrop for the enjoyment of locally sourced, seasonal ingredients.

Seattle residents benefit from a multitude of artisanal cocktail bars to enjoy on any night of the week. Many of these cocktail bars are unique and masterfully curated encounters with creativity. The Doctor’s Office is an intimate tasting room serving classic cocktails. Due to the establishment’s dedication to personalized service, only 12 seats occupy the space, deterring crowds and fostering an exclusive experience.

Percy’s & Co. Seattle is situated in a beautifully preserved historic building at the heart of Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a menu featuring apothecary-inspired cocktails crafted utilizing herbs grown on the premises.

Things to Do

Seattle can be counted on to host exciting events year-round. Zoo Tunes is a spring concert series held annually at Woodland Park Zoo. This is an important fundraising event for the zoo, and proceeds go towards the zoo’s animal conservation efforts. The Seattle Cherry Blossom and Japanese Cultural Festival is organized yearly at Seattle Center, near the Space Needle. This festival showcases Japanese art, technological innovations, and culture.

Seattle International Film Festival, SIFF for short, is an annual festival featuring exemplary cinematic productions from around the world. Local movie theaters showcase SIFF films for over three weeks in May and June, featuring various independent films, foreign films, and documentaries. First Thursday Art Walk is a monthly event in Seattle’s Pioneer Square neighborhood. A majority of the city’s fine art galleries participate in the United State’s oldest ongoing art walk, creating a lively evening of shopping for and viewing art from acclaimed artists.
